Tea Room

No country in the world honours the humble cup of tea more than Great Britain. Have a friend pop over? Put the kettle on. Bad news? Put the kettle on. Cause for celebration? Put the kettle on. However, where the British truly excel is in their high tea, served in the afternoon.

Served as a meal generally eaten before going to theatre, traditional afternoon tea in the UK involves sandwiches, cakes, pastries and, of course, the finest selection of tea served in tea pots, with cups and saucers, never mugs.

The service of afternoon tea at Palazzo Parisio is inspired by time spent in the British Isles by the baroness and her daughter Justine and the staff is trained in proper service. It is served outside in the baroque gardens when the weather is pleasant or indoors in the tea rooms of the stately home that dates back to 1733 when it gets a little too blustery.

The afternoon tea experience

Start the meal off with some fine finger sandwiches filled with a variety of items, like smoked salmon, ham and cheese, cucumber and egg. Delicate pastries are to be expected at afternoon tea and ours are no less than magnificent. Handmade by Florian Deville of Le Grenier à Pain, they are served on a stunning three-tier cake tower and promise to be the highlight of the afternoon. Florian selected Palazzo Parisio to showcase these pastries before opens Le Grenier à Pain in Malta later this year. If that is not enough, there is a selection of homemade cakes to choose from; our signature carrot and pineapple cake is a star among its audience and is showered with praise, the Heaven Sent chocolate layer cake has to tasted to be believed. Nine layers of chocolate ganache, buttercream and praline make it an indulgent and thoroughly satisfying treat. To make our tea a little more festive, we have added some Christmas treats all the way through December because what is Christmas without a mince pie or two?

Tea the central focus and we bring you a selection of the world’s finest teas, delicately grown by Jing. Tea leaves are nurtured and picked by hand to create the very best in flavour, making Jing the tea of choice among the world’s best chefs. And why not add a little pazzaz to your afternoon with a glass of champagne?
