An Evening of Musical Heritage

Join us for an evening at the Palazzo where yesteryear comes alive. Only recently our achives revealed a piece of music with great significance to the Scicluna family. On 8th May, we will be showcasing this piece along with other works by Maestro Michael Pirotta and musicians Noel Beck on the clarinet and pianist Maria Elena Farrugia taking us back to the 1920s to grant us a glimpse into the Scicluna family heritage.

In celebration of the birth of his first daughter on 29th April, 1923, Corinna, Marquis John Scicluna was presented with a deeply meaningful gift from the band club of Naxxar; an original composition by A. Abela. This tribute reflects not only their appreciation for his generous support, but also honours his enduring dedication to the community, a legacy carried forward from his father, Giuseppe Scicluna, esteemed patron of Palazzo Parisio.

The dedication accompanying this composition reflects a celebration of talent through this remarkable gift, highlighting not only Marquis Scicluna’s role as a generous benefactor, but also his genuine appreciation for, and enjoyment of, the local musical scene. It reveals the deep respect he commanded within Naxxar, while equally suggesting that this admiration was warmly returned by the community. 

Today, members of the same band club have collaborated closely with us to revive this historic piece, bringing it vividly to life once more. Inspired by its beauty and significance, they have also created a new composition, which will be premiered during the evening alongside a selection of other musical works.

Join us for a memorable evening of music, heritage, and cultural revival in a truly historic setting. The evening begins at 6:00 PM with a welcome drink, followed by the concert at 6:30 PM.
